Once a test is created, it must be deployed within a content folder before students can take the test. Test results are reviewed in the Grade Center. To select a type you may click on the \u201cCreate Question\u201d drop \u2013 down button and click on the type of your choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">Ultra Environment<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Create tests in Blackboard - Instructors\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bew0pICXYxE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Distinguishing Assignments and Tests in Ultra<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"interface\">Assignments<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Tests<\/span>\u00a0(grouped under\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Assessments<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Course Content Items<\/span>\u00a0panel) share the same user interface and options. Many options in the settings are enabled or disabled based on whether at least one question is included in the assessment.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, instructors use these assessments differently. For example, you might create an assignment with instructions for students to submit a file for a grade. In a test, students may answer a series of questions you\u2019ve added to the assessment.<\/p>\n<p>To distinguish between assignments and tests, and to highlight workflows with and without questions, the discussion of tests will emphasize a workflow with added questions.<\/p>\n<h3>The New Test page<\/h3>\n<p>There are three customizable components on the new test page:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>add test content<\/li>\n<li>control test visibility to students<\/li>\n<li>apply test settings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/rich_text_large\/public\/images\/2024-08\/learn_ultra_instructor_Tests_Create_0.png.jpg?itok=MkceNkJt\" alt=\"Course Content page, with the Test creation option highlighted\" width=\"674\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/rich_text_large\/public\/images\/2023-03\/learn_ultra_instructor_CreateTest_full-page_0.png.jpg?itok=icKeuuLZ\" alt=\"Image of new test page with boxes drawn around three areas to customize test: 1. On the\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Course Content<\/span>\u00a0page, the title appears as the link students select to view the materials. If you don&#8217;t add a title, &#8220;New Test&#8221; and the date appear in the content list. If you don&#8217;t add content, the test won&#8217;t appear on the\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Course Content<\/span>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n<h3>Adding Test Content<\/h3>\n<p>Select the <strong>plus sign<\/strong> to open the menu to add questions and more.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/rich_text_large\/public\/images\/2023-03\/learn_ultra_instructor_CreateTest_create-content_0.png.jpg?itok=Y_6u8tAv\" alt=\"Image of component to create test content with box drawn around plus sign button\" width=\"375\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can choose a question type, add a question pool, upload questions from a file or reuse questions and content from existing assessments. You can also add files and text, such as instructions for the test.\u00a0You can also add files from cloud storage, such as OneDrive and Google Drive.<\/p>\n<h3>Additional Tools<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/rich_text_large\/public\/images\/2023-03\/learn_ultra_instructor_CreateTest_TestSettings_AdditionalTools_0.png.jpg?itok=LIcDgaEi\" alt=\"image of Additional tools section of Test Settings panel\" width=\"234\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"emphasize\">Add a time limit<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0A time limit\u00a0can keep students on track and focused on the test. Each student has a limited amount of time to submit. The test attempts are saved and submitted automatically when time is up. You can also allow students to work past the time limit. Time limits can only be added to individual (not group) tests.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"emphasize\">Add a grading rubric<\/span>.<\/strong> A rubric is a scoring tool to evaluate graded work. Rubrics can help you evaluate student submissions based on key criteria that you define. You can\u00a0create a new rubric\u00a0or\u00a0associate an existing rubric\u00a0in your course. You can only add a rubric to a test without questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"emphasize\">Add goals and standards<\/span>.<\/strong> You can\u00a0align a test to one or multiple goals. You and your institution can use goals to measure student achievement across programs and curricula. You can also align individual test questions to goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"emphasize\">Make a group test<\/span><\/strong>. You can create a test for groups of students. By default, you assign a grade to each group as a whole, but you can change a group member&#8217;s individual grade.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Question Types<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Find below four examples of question types, with guidelines, of common question types that an instructor could use in a test:<\/p>\n<div data-smooth=\"accordion\" class=\"\"><div role=\"header\">Fill in the Blank Questions<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Title\u201d type the title of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Text\u201d type the content of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNumber of Answers\u201d select how many answers this question should have and choose the \u201cExact Match\u201d choice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the feedback section you may type a feedback that presents a response to a correct or an incorrect answer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As soon as you finished editing the question requirements you may add notes concerning the question in section \u201cInstructor Notes\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click \u201cSubmit\u201d to upload this question in the test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">Jumbled Sentence Questions<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Title\u201d type the title of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Text\u201d type the content of the question including the variables of the possible answers. Variables must be typed in square brackets and only in capital letters. E.g.[A]<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNumber of Answers\u201d select the number of answers for this question and type each answer in the boxes below this section<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As soon as you finished editing the question requirements, click next to continue with the editing of the correct answers as long as the feedback you could give for each answer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To specify the correct answer, click on the drop \u2013 down button to select the correct answer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the feedback section you may type a feedback that presents a response to a correct or an incorrect answer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may add notes concerning the question in section \u201cInstructor Notes\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click \u201cSubmit\u201d to upload this question in the test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">Multiple Choice Questions<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Title\u201d type the title of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Text\u201d type the content of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cOptions\u201d set how the answers are about to be displayed by selecting the desirable \u201cAnswer Numbering\u201d , \u201cAnswer Orientation\u201d and if you wish \u201cAllow partial credit\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNumber of Answers\u201d choose the number of answer selections by clicking the drop \u2013 down button<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then, set the correct answer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the feedback section you may type a feedback that presents a response to a correct or an incorrect answer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may add notes concerning the question in section \u201cInstructor Notes\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li>When taking a test that associates negative points to incorrect answer choices you may want to clear that selection from a multiple-choice question and leave it blank. Click you answer one more time to clear your choice.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click \u201cSubmit\u201d to upload this question in the test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">Short Answer Questions<\/div><div role=\"content\"><br \/>\nIn the Short Answer question type, the students are able to add up to six (6) number of rows that are not limited in length.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Title\u201d type the title of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cQuestion Text\u201d type the content of the question<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAnswer text\u201d you may write a possible correct answer and you can set the number of rows that will display in the answer text box<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may add notes concerning the question in section \u201cInstructor Notes\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click \u201cSubmit\u201d to upload this question in the test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tests Tests are sets of questions that are graded to measure student performance.
