Each user may have a various roles in different courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Below are the roles a user may have in a course<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Course Builder<\/strong>: Has access and can add content in the course, but does not have access to student grades.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Grader<\/strong>: Assist the instructor in the grading process<strong>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Instructor<\/strong>: Has access to all areas of the course.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Student<\/strong>: Have no access to the Control Panel\/Course Management.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Teaching assistant: <\/strong>Able to administer all areas of a course. Their limitations are set by the instructor.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Guest<\/strong>: Disabled role in ACG&#8217;s Bb system. Have no access to the Control Panel and can <strong>only <\/strong>view content in the course.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Change the role of a user in a Blackboard Learn course<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In your blackboard container click the <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> , then <strong>Users and Groups<\/strong> and then <strong>Users.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While in the users page, click the contextual menu next to the username of the participant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the <strong>Change User&#8217;s Role in Course <\/strong>page, select the new role.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hit\u00a0<strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Capture14.png\" rel=\"lightbox-3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1479 alignbottom\" title=\"Change Role\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Capture14.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Capture14.png 366w, https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Capture14-257x300.png 257w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">User Enrollments and Roles - Ultra<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">In the new version of Blackboard called Ultra, you can find user enrollments along with their roles in the\u00a0<strong>Details &amp; Actions<\/strong>\u00a0section of the right-side menu. Click on the\u00a0<strong>Roster<\/strong> option to access a page displaying all the students currently enrolled in your course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/?attachment_id=5925\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5925\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5925\" src=\"https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-168.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"59\" \/>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Roster, you can view, add, and remove students enrolled in your course. If you want to add click the plus button at the top right corner. Type in the search bar their name, click on the correct name card, and select the appropriate role you want to give them. A side window will appear with all the relevant information. Next to the name of the student, there is a bin button. If you select it the student will be deleted from the course. To change the role of the person in the specific course there is a drop-down menu below the Course settings section.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div role=\"header\">How to use Groups - Original<\/div><div role=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can create groups of students to collaborate on academic work and you can do so, by creating them one at a time or in sets. Each groups has access\u00a0 to each own homepage and to various tools and links that help students collaborate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Access a Group<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Navigate to the <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Users and Groups<\/strong> &gt;<strong> Groups<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">OR<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click the <strong>Group<\/strong> link in the course menu if available.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">OR<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click the <strong>Tools<\/strong> link in the course menu and the click <strong>Groups<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Add a Group link to the course menu<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Make sure the <strong>Edit Mode<\/strong> is <strong>ON<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click the <strong>Add Menu Item<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Select <strong>Tool Link<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Provide a name for the link.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Select from the <strong>Type<\/strong> the option <strong>Groups<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Check the <strong>Available to Users<\/strong> option.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Add a Group link in the Course Area:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Make sure the <strong>Edit Mode<\/strong> is <strong>ON<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While inside a content area, hover the cursor over the <strong>Tools Drop-down<\/strong> menu and select <strong>Groups<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the <strong>Create Link: Group <\/strong>page, select the type of group link you want to create (ex. group set, group or group page).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While in the second <strong>Create Link: Group<\/strong> page, provide a link name and an optional description.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the <strong>Options<\/strong> field select the options that you want to apply to your link.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Click <strong>Submit<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Groups9.png\" rel=\"lightbox-4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3594\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Groups9.png\" alt=\"Groups\" width=\"494\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Groups9.png 628w, https:\/\/web.acg.edu\/web\/blackboard\/files\/2014\/05\/Groups9-300x236.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are two group creation <strong>Options<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Create a Single Group<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Create a Group Set<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Group Enrollments Methods<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Self-Enroll<\/strong>: Students will be able to enroll themselves in a group, by adding their names to a sign-up sheet. To do so follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the Group students menu, select Custom and enter a name at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<li>Select each student&#8217;s name one after the other to select them as a group. Select a student&#8217;s name again to remove the selection.<\/li>\n<li>After you select the students, open the menu next to one of their names and select Create a new group. You can also move multiple students to a group listed in the menu.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the group name if you want to change the default naming by selecting the pencil icon next to the group&#8217;s name.<\/li>\n<li>Provide an optional group description\u00a0that will appear\u00a0to that group&#8217;s members. You have no limit on the number of characters.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">To\u00a0<strong>create self-enrollment groups,\u00a0<\/strong>you can allow students to sign up for course groups on their own. Only students are permitted to join these groups. They will receive a course announcement and a notification in the activity stream regarding the groups they need to join.<\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">You can also set an enrollment period. Students will be notified as the enrollment deadline approaches. Once this period ends, students will no longer be able to join the groups. Additionally, you have the option to automatically enroll students in groups after the enrollment period has concluded by selecting or deselecting this feature.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To enable Self-enrollment, you first need to make the groups visible to students. You can do this by selecting &#8220;Visible to students&#8221; in the top right corner of the New Group Set page.<\/li>\n<li>In the Group Students menu, select &#8220;Self-enrollment.&#8221; Students will be evenly distributed among the groups based on the number of groups you specify. You must create at least two self-enrollment groups for your course.<\/li>\n<li>To add another group, click the plus sign next to the Number of Groups. The total will automatically update. You can add or delete groups even after students have started joining. If you delete a group that students have already joined, they will be moved to the unassigned list. Make sure to notify these students so they can join one of the remaining groups or be added to a different group.<\/li>\n<li>Remember, if you set an enrollment period, any unassigned students will be automatically enrolled at the end of that period.<\/li>\n<li>You also have the option to add start and end dates for enrollment. Click the arrow next to &#8220;Advanced options&#8221; to collapse the enrollment section.<\/li>\n<li>You can modify or clear the default maximum number of members per group, which must be set to 1 or greater.
