Comdex at Expo Athens
Two floors of high-tech gadgetry that display the latest, innovative technology from Greece to Korea sounds like a techie’s paradise. Sixty fully-loaded computers with the newest games and a high-bandwidth connection are a gamer’s fantasy. This digital technology exposition will become a reality on November 18 at the Expo Athens convention center in Anthousa.
The dte-COMDEX Greece 2005 convention marks the second time Greek companies will display new technological trends to the public and interested investors. Twenty-two thousand people visited the exposition last year, 60 percent of whom were part of the IT industry and 12 percent of whom were technology tourists.
“It’s much more important for the consumer to see my [Dell] product than a competitor,” said Vasillis Theodoropoulos, manager of Dell Greece. “Although the exhibitors are what Comdex is about, the visitors are essential to its success.”
This year the exposition committee expects to attract more than 45,000 people to the 15,000-square-meters of new technology. Expected themes will include digital living, wireless networking, and e-learning.
Although this is the second time Greek companies will show their wares, this is the first time the expo will include other Balkan countries and feature exhibitors from Portugal and Taiwan.
Companies such as Cisco Systems, Dell, Sony and Motorola will attend, along with Greek owned companies, including OTE, Forthnet and Intracom. Korea will be the first “honored country” at the Comdex expo, exhibiting over 20 Korean companies.
During the convention, companies will hold conferences that showcase wireless voice technology and workshops, such as “CEO Future Watch,” a workshop for IT entrepreneurs.
