Pierce Alumnae Visit Hellinikon Campus
On May 15, a group of Pierce alumnae from the classes of ’63 – ’70, visited their old campus at Hellinikon where the College was located from 1936 to 1965. The visit was proposed by Pierce ’66 alumna Aimilia Bacourou, and was organized with the help of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Almost 80 alumnae gathered in the old amphitheater to share their memories and stories. Their former professors Psaltidou-Glika, Tzavela, and Bratsiotis were also present, happy to share memories of their former students.
A special thank you goes out to Aimilia Bakourou for a wonderful idea, and for her help in organizing the visit and making sure all these alumnae could gather together for an evening of reconnecting and reminiscing. In addition, we would like to thank the alumnae Rena Kontogoni (P ’63), Marietta Apergi (P ’64),Fragiski Bertou (P ’66), Aliki Mitsakou (P ’67), Artemis Nikolaidou (P ’67), and Margarita Patsiliva (P ’67) for providing the photos with which we were able to create a special reunion video! Lastly, we wish to extend our gratitude to the Civil Aviation Authority for their warm welcome to their premises, and for giving our alumnae the chance to stroll around their old memory-filled campus!
Pierce Class of 1997 Reunion
On June 8, the Pierce Class of 1997 met on campus to celebrate their 20th graduation anniversary. Maria Laina, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations, welcomed them in the Pierce Theater, where Pierce Principal Olga Julius talked to them about the progress the school has made – also marking the last Pierce reunion she attended as Principal, as she is retiring after 42 years of service to the College. Former Pierce Professor Panagiotis Kaloulis and P ‘97 graduate Andreas Stavridis took the stage to reminisce and share their fondest memories. The graduates gathered in the Theater for a class photo, visited their old classrooms, and ended the night in the cafeteria, marking their calendars for their next meet-up!
