Even fewer are clear about what has to be done to restore Greece to growth and prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>Professors <strong>Odysseus Katsaitis<\/strong>, <strong>Dimitris Doulos<\/strong> and <strong>Nicholas Prirounakis <\/strong>of the DEREE Economics Department, wrote a three-part treatise on the origins of the crisis, the current developments, and the way forward, respectively, in order to give readers an overview of the most dramatic developments to be faced by post-World War II Greece.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Dr. <strong>Nickolaos Travlos, <\/strong>dean of the ALBA Graduate Business School at The American College of Greece, writes about private higher education \u2013 once one of the mightiest taboos in Greek politics \u2013 can actually prove an economic boon for the country.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, London criminologist, <strong>Dr. Leonidas K. Cheliotis<\/strong>, a DEREE alumnus, writes about the not-so-obvious correlation between crisis and crime rates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The deep and persistent economic mess in which Greece has found itself has as many readings as there are readers. Indeed, it can be claimed that Greece is currently a laboratory for the optimal study of an advanced Western society in crisis.
