Stelios Sklavenitis
It is with our greatest sorrow that we announce the death of Deree ’93 alumnus Stelios Sklavenitis, who passed on Sunday, April 1st, 2018.
Stelios Sklavenitis studied Marketing Management and graduated in 1993. He was the co-owner of the supermarket chain “Sklavenitis” with his three siblings, a loving father of four and a silent philanthropist. Loved by his employees, he wished to stay out of the public eye, many times wishing to remain anonymous regarding his donations or good deeds.
Over the years, he had supported the American College of Greece with various donations, both with scholarships and in-kind.

Anthony Theoharakis
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of retired Deree Faculty and 25 Year Associate Member, Anthony Theocharakis, on Monday, April 9, 2018.
Anthony served ACG with devotion, for 33 years, as full-time professor of Marketing. During his tenure, he was promoted to the rank of Professor III and he held the position of Area Coordinator of the Marketing Department.
Anthony Theoharakis has rested, but in his passing from this world he touched thousands of people. As a Professor of Marketing from the early 70’s, he trained the first marketeers in Greece after completing his MBA from the City University of New York – a time when holding an MBA was quite unique. As he self-financed his university studies, he chose to be a marketeer out of his true love for the subject after a stint in aeronautics. While he dedicated his professional life to what was then a relatively new and evolving area, it was actually teaching marketing that became his passion. One could easily say that he had a profound impact on the lives of many people since he introduced marketing to a few thousands of students that have led and are continuing to lead senior executive careers. As the pioneering faculty sponsor of the historic Marketing Society at Deree, he helped in the creation of an important institution. Therefore, his teaching and advising extends beyond individuals and has had an impact in Greek industry as a whole.
