The American College of Greece regrets to announce the passing of:


 

Epameinontas Baloumis

It is with profound sorrow that we inform you of the passing away of our dear retired PIERCE faculty member and 25 Year Associates member Epameinontas Baloumis, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.

Dr. Baloumis served PIERCE as a full-time teacher-philologue at Director of Lyceum level, as well as Department Head for Modern Greek Language & Literature for 30 years, touching the lives of thousands of students. He was loved and respected by all his colleagues and will surely be missed.

The funeral service was held on Monday, August 25 at St. Nicholaos Church in Halandri. The 40-day requiem service was held on Sunday, September 21 at the ACG Chapel and was attended by numerous colleagues, 25 Year Associates members as well as PIERCE alumni.

The whole ACG family extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deeply-admired colleague.


 

Konstantinos Korletis (DEREE ’93)

ACG deeply regrets to announce the passing of alumnus Konstantinos Korletis on July 24.  Mr Korletis, president of Olive Media, earned his BSc in Business Administration – Marketing Management from DEREE in 1993, and went on to become one of the most well known and talented media professionals in Greece.

While at DEREE, he was very active in College life, as a Member of the Student Body Council, working in the Student Affairs Office, part of the Ski Club, and playing in the Football team to boot.

He earned his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business in 1995, where Citibank reportedly found him and he came to Greece on Citibank’s behalf. He eventually became Vice President of Citibank’s Corporate Finance Division in Greece – at age 29.

Mr Korletis also served as Chief Financial Officer at AG Petzetakis, a major industrial group, and then as Vice Chairman & General Manager of Liberis Media for seven years up until April 2010.

He presented DEREE’s Graduate Master Class in May 2011, when he was Chief Executive Officer of Internetq, with the title: “Raising the stakes: Taking a Greek private company public in the international markets” about listing the company he headed on London’s AIM exchange in December 2010. He later became Internetq’s Executive Chairman.

In the last year and a half, he founded and headed Olive Media, which publishes Time Inc publications, such as People, Instyle, and Fortune magazines in Greece. He also co-founded Aephoria.net at the same time, and, more recently, founded Mobilis in Mobili Ltd.

Mr Korletis, 45, leaves behind his loving wife Alexia Adami (PIERCE ’88-DEREE ’94) and two daughters, Marisa and Pavlina.

Vasilis Siakos (DEREE ’93, ALBA ‘98)

ACG deeply regrets to announce the passing of Vasilis Siakos on July 24. Mr Siakos, the founder and Director of Strategy Management Consulting at S&P Strategy Management Consultants, was a seasoned and creative strategist.

While studying at DEREE for his BSc in Business Administration – Marketing Management, Mr Siakos had already began working with DIAGEO on the Nightlife Team – On Trade Business Development, Metaxa –IDV/GrandMet, and two years later became Manager of that department for another two years until 1995.

Mr. Siakos’ next career move also involved him studying in tandem; this time he worked at Johnson & Johnson beginning as an Account Unit Manager in 1996, while studying for his MBA at ALBA (graduating in 1998).

He soon took over as National Key Account Manager at Johnson & Johnson, until he assumed the role of National Trade Marketing Manager of The Walt Disney Company – reporting to the Vice President of Emerging Markets in Paris.

His career then saw him spend seven years in senior consultant positions for Response Management Consultants and Planwork Strategy & Development Consultants, before joining the Hay Group’s Athens office as a Principal Consultant in Building Effective Organizations, SE Europe.

More recently, since November 2008, he founded S&P Strategy Management Consultants, as well as the C-Level Global Network, where “International C-Level executives, recruiters and consulting professionals network and disseminate knowledge and world-class best practices for the creation of shared value.”

Mr Siakos earned his BSc in Business Administration – Marketing Management from DEREE in 1993, and his MBA from ALBA in 1998.

His funeral was held July 27 at the Glyfada cemetery in the southern Athenian suburbs.
