In Rhodes, alumnae Konstantina Gerontoudi (DEREE ’84), Owner of Prep. Center for GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, and Despoina Archontaki (DEREE ’92) a psychologist, spoke to prospective students and their parents at the Grande Albergo delle Rose Hotel, about their college Days, the tools they gained, the life-long friendships, the networking that ensued, and why DEREE was their choice for its academic programs, college life, and much, much more.
Other speakers at the event included a keynote welcome speech on behalf of the Rhodes Municipality by Teris Hadjioannou, Vice President of Culture and Communication, followed by welcoming, informative speeches by DEREE officials Claudia Carydis (DEREE ‘84), VP of Public Affairs, Artemis Psarianou, Manager of Greek Student Recruitment, and Lucy Kanatsouli, Dean of Enrollment & International Students, as well as by DEREE Student Vassilis Goumas, who is double majoring in Environment Studies & Economics, and is a Resident Assistant at DEREE’s Study Abroad Office, as well as an intern at the Commercial Office at the US Embassy in Athens, who shared his rich experiences and insights with the teeming audience.

DEREE & PIERCE alumna Christina Tsalopoulou (PIERCE ’05, DEREE ‘10, GRADUATE 2011 MA) recounted her time at both academic institutions, and how invaluable the experience was to her on both a personal and professional level, calling her ACG days the “best years of her life.”
After graduating from PIERCE-ACG in 2005, Ms Tsalopoulou gained her bachelor’s degree in Communication from DEREE in 2010 (3.9 GPA), while also studying International and European Affairs at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (2005-2009). She also earned her master’s degree in Communication from DEREE in 2011 (3.9 GPA), followed by her master’s degree in Integrated Marketing from New York University in 2013 (3.9 GPA).
While at DEREE, Ms Tsalopoulou was a very active student member of many clubs and organizations, and won the Student Life Award and the DEREE College Ambassadors Award – both in June 2010. She also worked as a student assistant in the Admission’s Office at DEREE.
Speaking at the Thessaloniki event to prospective students and their parents, DEREE officials presented all the educational institution has to offer, including academic programs, scholarships, the International Internship and Study Abroad Program, its Parallel Studies Program, and slew of extracurricular activities, while Dr. Ilias Christodoulakis, Adjunct Professor in the Communication Department, gave an overview of the International Tourism & Hospitality Management and Communication program DEREE offers and its new partnership with Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, among others.
