Writer and director Jacqueline Lentzou, a Deree ’10 alumna, received numerous awards for her short film Fox, including Best International Short Film Award at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2016, and has continued to rise in the film industry since. Her latest short film Hiwa, is one of the 7 films produced in the first Athens Film Lab, as part of the Athens International Film Festival. Hiwa has been incredibly well received, and was selected to compete in the Short Film category of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival.
Hiwa, is a short film that portrays the dream of a man from the Philippines, while he wanders through the streets of Athens, without physically being there. Soon, his dream becomes a nightmare…

About Jacqueline Lentzou
Jacqueline earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication with an emphasis on Media and Film Studies from Deree in 2010, and then continued her studies with a master’s degree in Filmmaking from London Film School.
With her movie Blue Thirteen, produced in her senior year at London Film School, the Deree alumna has participated in many international film festivals around the world, and has received impressive awards such as the Golden Egg at the Reykjavik Film Festival, and the first prize at the Athens Film & Video Festival. In 2014, she also won the award for Best Scenario at the Patmos Film Festival for her the movie LUZ.
