Welcome to the May issue of Touch Base, your official alumni newsletter that helps you stay in touch with old classmates, faculty, and staff and stay abreast of developments at your alma mater, The American College of Greece.
This month we very much look forward to two PIERCE reunions celebrating the graduation anniversaries of six classes: 1944 – 1954 – 1964 (May 29th) as well as 1974 – 1984 -1994 (May 16th)!
Thank you very much for your continued support of the revamped Touch Base. We welcome your feedback – and your stories so that we can share them with over 37,000 ACG alumni around the world.
In this issue, read up on alumni making leaps and bounds in our Rising Star section and discover the world of the Daughters of Penelope, through an exclusive interview with its Executive Director, Elena Skardis Saviolakis (DEREE ’04).
Find out which alumni came on campus and shared their success stories and insights into their fields with ACG students and guests during the latest Discover DEREE Day, Business Week 2014 and Panel Discussion 2014: “Drivers of Economic Growth: The Day After for Greece”.
Also, discover a new Massive Open Online Course on entrepreneurship being offered by The ALBA Graduate Business School in cooperation with the US Embassy in Athens and business incubator Metavallon on the popular Coursera platform, with Greek content, for the first time.
For those looking for a serious boost their career, don’t miss a fantastic fellowship opportunity for recent alumni being offered by The Hellenic Initiative (THI) with year-long fellowships at leading companies in the US, such as Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, IBM, Huffington Post, the Libra Group, and Hostess Brands.
Also in this issue, read up on why PIERCE has won the International School Award. Congratulations PIERCE!
You’ll also find stories on a host of significant achievements by ACG students, whether winning awards at the Model United Nations and Forensics, or kudos for their innovative products, or their athletic talent.
And, don’t forget to cast your nominations for the Alumni Achievement Awards, to be held September 12 in Athens, where a show of talent will be on hand as ACG alumni reconnect and make new friends.
Before you go, visit our Memory Lane section for photos of years past and our Calendar for upcoming events open to alumni.
Most of all, don’t forget to share your news with us, both by updating your profile here and by sending us an email at [email protected], so that we can feature your news in Touch Base and share with your fellow alumni.
Finally, for all those celebrating Mother’s Day in Greece, the US and elsewhere around the world this May, we wish you a fantastic Mother’s Day!
Good luck too to all those ACG students (and their parents) who are beginning exams this month!
