Welcome to the June issue of Touch Base, your official Alumni e-Newsletter issued by The American College of Greece’s Office of Development & Alumni Relations
This June, we look forward to welcoming our new alumni as PIERCE and DEREE students gear up for graduation, which will further boost our 39,000 graduates’ strength around the world, while ALBA students get ready for their fall graduation.
We also look at what happened at the unprecedented Reunion of the DEREE Classes of ’02, ’03 & ’04 this past May, and look ahead to the 20-Year Reunion of the PIERCE Class of ’95 coming up in June – which has all the hallmarks of a very memorable evening.
Read on for an exclusive interview with distinguished alumnus Dimitris Michopoulos (DEREE ’93), the Managing Director of Weber Shandwick Greece, a leading global public relations and communication firm named 2014 Global Agency of the Year by the Holmes Report, and which recently signed an agreement with DEREE to offer students in the MA in Strategic Communication & Public Relations the opportunity to work in a real business environment through internships, participation in focus groups and brainstorming sessions, among other methods.
Read on to discover which alumni are winning awards in advertising, are delivering social media marketing Master Classes, and photography shows, or other events at DEREE, and find out which alumni are carving a name for themselves in the Corporate Social Responsibility world.
For all you budding entrepreneurs, check out the third round of VentureGarden, which began on May 18 at ALBA with 35 participants. VentureGarden is an educational support program for early stage entrepreneurs, which combines rigorous training with mentoring support. VentureGarden in Athens is run by ALBA’s entrepreneurship center AHEAD. The next round begins in early July.
