The School of Business at DEREE had a busy month indeed, with a series of academic events spanning several fields of business and enterprise.
On November 3, the Shipping Management academic program was presented in an event titled ‘Low Rates, Ominous Forecasts: Why Choose a Career in Shipping?’ The event hosted a panel discussion featuring distinguished professionals of the maritime industry.
On November 9, Henry Thompson, PhD, a Professor of Economics at Auburn University, US, was welcomed on campus and delivered two consecutive lectures, on ‘Tourism Economics in Greece’, and on ‘The Physical Production Function of the US Economy.’ Students of all three Schools, faculty, staff, and alumni were welcomed and joined in for an open, insightful discussion on the development of both nations’ economies.
A mini-conference on tourism was held on November 11, organized by the International Tourism & Hospitality Department. The event, titled ‘Tourism Success – Everybody’s Business: Perspectives on Tourism and Hospitality Management, Planning and Development,’ fostered a dialogue between professionals on implementation of new strategies and the employment of new media practices toward development in the field of hospitality management.
