Three prominent DEREE alumni spoke at the first ever Youth to Business Forum held in Greece – an AIESEC event that takes place in various countries around the world, this year held at DEREE – The American College of Greece.
The event aims at bringing together youth and business leaders in order to discuss global business issues and to generate ideas that will impact the world and its future.
The Forum featured keynote speaker and alumnus Spyros Tryfonas (DEREE ’95), who is Corporate Sales Director at Nestlé Hellas and graduated from DEREE with a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Management – Organizational Behavior. Mr Tryfonas urged students to be bold: “If you’re brave enough to try, you’ll be rewarded with many great experiences.”
Also speaking at the Forum was alumna Tonia Aroni (DEREE ’06), HR Associate Manager at Procter & Gamble Greece, who earned her Bachelor’s in Management from DEREE, and at the Forum held a workshop on “P&G – Your chance to be heard, P&G helping youth unemployment.” Alumna Irene Corantis (DEREE ’00 BSc Management summa cum laude), who is Content Excellence Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Company Central and Southern Europe, also held a workshop with a colleague entitled “Leading in a cross-cultural matrix.”
The event, held on October 13 under the theme “Defying Uncertainty,” afforded students the opportunity to attend workshops, find out about scholarship opportunities, and interact with global business leaders and representatives of the academic community – as well as with students of different cultural backgrounds from around the world.
Also speaking at the Forum were ACG’s Vice President of Administration Dimitris Andreou and DEREE’s Dean of Admissions Lucy Kanatsouli who co-presented “Study abroad at the American College of Greece – Scholarship opportunities for Greek University Students”.
All the speakers at the Forum addressed the issue of how to deal with a world of continuous challenges, where students must overcome and defy the uncertainty surrounding them.
