Amidst tough competition, Deree 2016 graduate Efstathios Chomatsas has been awarded the Onassis Scholarship for full tuition coverage, one of the most prestigious awarded scholarships in Greece. Stathis will put it to full use by continuing his studies with a master’s degree at the Royal Northern College of Music.
On his studies of Music and Music Performance at Deree, Stathis said, “I want to thank all of my teachers from the Music Department, as well as Dean Katerina Thomas, and especially my teacher, Professor Dimitris Toufexis, a wonderful artist and tutor, for his crucial guidance all these years.”
While at Deree, Stathis was awarded the Harvey C. Krentzman Scholarship from the College, a substantial support that enabled him to complete his studies while focusing on music. “The day I found out I was getting the scholarship from Deree was the landmark of the next step of my never ending music journey,” the graduate said. “Since then, I have developed both as an artist and as a person; the College gave me the motivation I needed, and will always need, in order to improve.”
