Since 2014, the ACG initiative Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholarship Program, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), has provided over 145 students of the Greek public universities and polytechnic schools with a scholarship to pursue a minor at Deree, helping them make the most of their college years, and expand their horizons.
In the Fall semester, Deree welcomed on campus our newest, bright-eyed SNF Scholars, who followed in the footsteps of fellow students and former scholars by deciding to combine their studies at Greek public universities with the Deree academic experience. This new group of promising young men and women met in early December for a meet-and-mingle networking event, with President David G. Horner, members of the ACG Administration, and fellow SNF scholars, giving them the chance to get to know each other better and share their experience so far. CNN.gr was there to cover the event and talk to the scholars about their decision to pursue parallel studies.
What’s the unique benefit of being a scholar at Deree?
How can one handle life as a “double student”?
How do the two educational systems complement each other?
The students were eager to share their views and experiences! They talked about the incomparable sense of care they feel at Deree: from the organization of classes and exams, to the continuous support of the professors and the ACG community. They also highlighted the undoubtable value of all the opportunities the College offers, from the ability to take full advantage of the extraordinary facilities on campus, to the international experience of a study abroad semester or an international internship with leading global companies.
Above all, the students focused on the fact that the two different educational systems are complementary rather than competitive; and that trying to fit two schools into one schedule can be challenging, but that it pays off tremendously in opportunities and experiences, open-mindedness and self-development, and last but not least, a hopeful future!
