The annual Career Days event came to a close on October 15, marking the 40th year of successfully connecting students with the job market. Once again, DEREE students had the chance to attend the Company Visitation Event, to have interviews with representatives of leading international companies, to participate in career-related workshops, and to have their professional profile photo taken. Among the 66 companies that participated this year were:
AB Vassilopoulos, Adecco, Aegean Airlines, Aldemar Resorts, Athenian Brewery, Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon, FF Group, GSK, IBM, Johnson & Johnson Hellas, KPMG, LeasePlan, Libra Group, L’Oréal, Mercedes-Benz, Nestlé, OTE Group, PepsiCo, Plaisio, Public, ReGeneration, SAP, Titan, TNT, and Weber Shandwick.
More than 110 representatives informed the students about current or future job positions at their companies and offered them the valuable experience of an interview.
The Career Days event is a powerful connecting link between students and the business world, allowing for interviewees to receive feedback on their CVs and experience a real one-to-one interview with the company of their preference. “The feedback we receive based on our CV is very useful because you see the different culture every company has and how they approach you,” said Eleni P. right after her personal session with a company representative.
This year a professional photo booth was also available, providing students with a professional headshot to use on social media, as well as for applications to international employment and internship opportunities.
Popular activities included the engaging “Decoding Body Language” workshop, organized by the Libra Group, which offered students insight into some of the do’s and don’ts of non-verbal communication in professional settings.
Body language and interaction was also explored in the creative workshop “Capoeira Techniques @ Job Interview” simulating the job interview “game” through Capoeira moves.
Workshops, lectures, photo shoots and tons of interviews… One 2nd year psychology student who attended this year, Nicholas G., had 10 interviews in 2 days, including his first-ever interview! He highly recommends students to take part, urging them to “pass by and check it out, it’s a unique opportunity to meet so many company representatives all together” if only to “meet people and network, to see the company culture.”
The end of this year’s event, marks 40 years of DEREE Career Days offering students professional opportunities and invaluable experience, while opening the doors of academia to companies in search of talented and competent new employees.
