Myrto Stefopoulou graduated magna cum laude from Deree in June 2016, with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Administration, while studying in parallel at the University of the Aegean in Chios. How did she make the decision? Well, she didn’t… Her parents did. As she says, “When I was admitted to the University of Aegean in Chios in 2011, my parents’ gift was… registration at Deree! They strongly believed in the American educational system, so I decided to pursue both. Now, I feel grateful to have been introduced to both educational systems, cultures, and procedures.”
During her studies, Myrto also successfully completed a paid internship in Johnson & Johnson Consumer Goods Hellas SA. Handling parallel studies, work, and her personal life was a challenge but, as Myrto says, “the experience has helped me enhance my time management, task prioritization, and communication skills!”
And the effort paid off! After thinking about her next steps and applying to graduate programs, the recent graduate was not only granted an unconditional offer to study at the University of Glasgow, one of the top 100 universities in the global rankings, she was also admitted with a 5,000 GBP Santander Scholarship!
The Deree graduate said, “You need to take the extra mile and prove to the people who believed in you that you are here for a purpose and that you can succeed.” Myrto is now enrolled at the University of Glasgow in the master’s degree program in International Strategic Marketing, an intensive, taught course that is highly recognized by the academic community and the industry.
