In the context of the 2nd PanHellenic Student Competition, a team of PIERCE high school students won the Directing Award, for their 10-minute video with the theme of “The History of my School.” The competition was organized by the Museum of School Life & Education, of the National Center for the Research & Preservation of School Materials, and the Department of Educational Radio & Television at the Ministry of Education, Research & Religious Affairs.
The winning team was comprised of students, Marianna Konstantinidi, Vasilia Louzi, and Basil Benopoulo, with the support of PIERCE teachers Sotiria Maria Chrimatopoulou, Nikolaos Karianos, and Panagiotis Vasilopoulos. The students presented the history of PIERCE through the ages, while at the same time showing aspects of the eras and locations through which the school evolved. From Smyrna, Asia Minor, to Faliro, Elliniko, downtown Athens, and finally, Agia Paraskevi.
The competition aimed to foster active participation in the process of creating and producing a project from scratch, as well as the development of critical and creative thought.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday November 21, in the Acropolis Museum. Have a look at the winning video below.
